Considering psychotherapy can be an important step toward seeking change.  Of course, each person who begins therapy has different needs and goals, and as a result, each therapeutic relationship is unique.  My work with each client focuses on each person’s individual needs and goals, which are discussed at the first meeting and throughout therapy. It is my experience that combining empirically researched approaches with creativity, warmth and engaging interaction is an effective combination.

Like many psychotherapists, I am well trained in a number of therapy approaches.  My background includes: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, Narrative and Brief Therapies, EMDR, and Clinical Hypnosis.  I also have significant training in trauma recovery and working with First Responders.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed through the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences, and a Registered Nurse, licensed through the California State Board of Registered Nursing, and have over thirty five years experience in the mental health field.  I hold a Master of Social Work degree, as well as a Master of Fine Arts degree, and have been an artist for twenty-five years.

My clinical experience includes working with adults, couples, adolescents, children, and families in a number of different mental health settings, which brings a rich and diverse experience to private practice psychotherapy.  Clients with whom I have worked have come to therapy experiencing a number of difficulties including: anxiety, depression, adult attention deficit/hyperactivity, trauma and post traumatic stress, grief, marital and relational problems, acute and chronic physical conditions, work and situational stress, and more -- including what I call “life bumps.”
